Size doesn’t matter
At just 15ft by 7ft, The Nutshell in Bury St Edmunds is officially the smallest pub in Britain. At one point 102 people managed to squeeze in, but your typical Friday night usually sees slightly fewer.

The Angel in Woodbridge might not have made it into the Guinness Book of World Records, but the traditional pub does offer over 200 different gins – not necessarily something you’d expect from its unassuming exterior.

The Dark Lord returns
Muggles should keep an eye out for Ralph Fiennes – the actor famous for playing Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter films. Fiennes was born just down the road in Ipswich, and has been known to pop back from time to time.

What’s in a name?
Animal Farm is ingrained in every GCSE English syllabus. But not many people know that the famous author George Orwell was actually born Eric Arthur Blair. He loved Southwold as a child, and was such a big fan of the River Orwell that he adopted the name when publishing his first book.

There might not be too much going on in Lowestoft, but the town does boast Ness Point – the most easterly point within mainland Britain. This quiet spot is the first place in the country to see the sunrise.
