Lacking inspiration? Here are seven places you should visit this autumn.
St Edmundsbury Cathedral: Smack bang in the centre of Bury St Edmunds, adjoining the spectacular Abbey Gardens (which are also very much worth a visit). Fancy making a day of it? Check in to The Northgate for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast too!

Where to stay: https://www.suffolkplaces.com/listings/crownhtlip13-evOne of the 14 rooms at The Crown Snape: Just down the road from Framlingham you’ll find Snape Marshes – a peaceful coastal nature reserve, and the perfect place for a post-pub lunch walk.
Newmarket Racecourse: Hands down one of the best days out. If you fancy an alternative to race day, simply head down to the Gallops and watch jockeys and horses train each morning.
Where to stay: https://www.suffolkplaces.com/listings/thepackhorseinnRooms at The Packhorse are just a hop, skip and a gallop from the racecourse Helmingham Hall: Easily one of the top sights in Suffolk, not least for its stunning gardens designed by Lady Xa Tollemache. Mosey on down to Ipswich afterwards for evening cocktails on the Waterfront.
Every October, the largest herd of red deer in Britain begin a month-long battle to win the right to mate. Watch the spectacle from the visitor centre at RSPB Minsmere – one of the best places to see and hear the animals in action. As the saying goes, may the best stag win.
