The Ship at Dunwich is ideally situated between the popular seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold. Beginning life as a smugglers haunt, the inn is home to cosy rooms with traditional furnishings (in keeping with the historic nature of the property), as well as delicious food and drink. Several fruit trees, including a 300-year-old fig tree, are found in the enormous garden.
16 en-suite rooms in total, many of which have beautiful marsh and sea views. All feature traditional furniture and old-fashioned iron bedsteads. Amenities include TVs, tea and coffee making facilities, and luxury White Company toiletries.
On the doorstep and nearby
The National Trust owned Dunwich Heath is brimming with stunning moorland and forest walks, so be sure to make the most of the great outdoors by exploring the area. The historic Southwold pier is also a must. Expect beautiful beach huts, fantastic independent shops and a quirky cinema. Southwold is also home to the Adnams Brewery, so if beer's your thing, be sure to sign up for a guided tour and tasting.
Bird lovers will be pleased to know that Minsmere RSPB Bird Reserve is just a few miles from the property, and rated as one of Europe's top bird sanctuaries.
